As part of our smashing 66th season at The Melon Patch we present ” Lost in Yonkers” Hailed as “the best play Simon ever wrote” by the New York Post, this Pulitzer Prize-winning memory play is set in Yonkers, New York, in 1942. Bella is thirty-five years old, mentally challenged, and living at home with her mother, stern Grandma Kurnitz. Bella’s ne’er-do-well brother Eddie deposits his two young sons, Arty and Jay, on the old lady’s doorstep, as he takes to the road as a salesman. The boys are left to contend with Grandma, their crazy aunt Bella and her secret romance, and their uncle Louie, a small-time hoodlum.
