Leesburg Mardi Gras

It all starts with a series of fun-filled parties to select King Rex & Queen Divine, followed by the Crowning Ball and finishes with the “PARTY IN THE STREET” as Historic Downtown Leesburg comes alive with the sights and sounds of N’awlins! Jugglers, Fire Eaters, Stilt Walkers Festive Foods, Vendors, 3 Parades and Concerts all day to keep the party going non-stop!

Jay Hurley

Jay Hurley moved to Leesburg in 1988 from Dallas, Texas. He has been involved in public service since moving here. He has served the community through a variety of ways such as his Church, Chamber of Commerce, Leesburg Partnership, Boys Girls Club, Lake County Gator Club, Youth mentoring, the YMCA and volunteering for a host of non-profits. Jay is a sales manager for the Jenkins Auto Group and is in his second term on the City Commission for the City of Leesburg. “I believe in this community and I love giving back to it.”

Barbara Mittermaier

Barbara moved to Leesburg in 1989.  She has served on and many Service and Civic group boards.  She volunteers for many organizations in Leesburg.  She has won countless awards for her dedication and altruism in our community.  She even won a US Ballroom Dance Championship.  Barbara has 3 biological children and many honorary kids, 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Barbara loves Leesburg and the Leesburg Partnership and everyone loves Barbara that meets her.

King Candidate

Bruce Kirkley

Bruce Kirkley, “Smiley”, was born in Leesburg. Bruce has owned and operated multiple companies in the Leesburg area. He started Diversified Lawn and Tree, which is still operating today. He sold the business and later co-founded Leesburg’s Kirkley Frost LLC construction with Tom Frost. The company has played an integral role helping to renovate and make downtown Leesburg a destination location. Recent projects include Renew Day Spa and Evolve Yoga and Fitness and are currently developing new stores: Evanderbreau, Evander Lee, Sumo Samurai, and Folsoms. “Smiley” loves riding his motorcycle and boat. He has two sons Dayne and Charley and grandchildren Sophie and Ellie. Bruce is a fun loving, life of the party kind of guy and is thrilled to be a part of making Leesburg, a place he has called home for many years, a fun and exciting place to live and visit.

Dina Simpson

Queen Candidate

Dina Simpson

Dina is a fully licensed cosmetologist and owner of Renew Day Spa. Her accomplishments include over 27 years of experience in the beauty industry. During the course of her career she has owned several salons in New York and relocated to Lake County in 2009. In addition to her styling career, she has has been an educator for Joico International. Her interests include physical fitness and she has completed several tri-athalons. Dina has two daughters, Taylor and Jordan and is married to Tim Simpson, a board member for the Boys & Girls Club of Lake & Sumter Counties for 14 years. Dina is excited to be a part of what the future holds for the Lakefront City.
